What started out as a less than stellar beginning to the 2022 inland trout season with every trip being littered with tight lipped fish and small ones at that making to the net. I am finally starting to see things turn around on my favorite stream. Hilariously the first time I take my girlfriend with me is when I begin to see more quality fish, and them be more receptive to spinning tackle.
Thinking back to previous trips I may be fighting an uphill battle with what looked like a lot of fish snacking on bug hatches that have been in full swing with the mayfly hatch just coming to an end this past week or two.
Analyzing what I should have been doing in those times I think is important. Even using a casting bubble along with floating flies I think would have put more fish in the bag or at least seen some more action than continuously shoving minnow baits and spinners in their face, and trust me I tried every type of hardware I had with less than stellar results.
